How do I book a ride?

Sign up in about a minute, enter your pickup and destination, and choose your pickup time — you'll see your exact fare before you confirm. Tap Book and you're set. You can book right here on the web at wheee.co.nz, or in the Wheee app on Android.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Book at least 45 minutes before your pickup, and up to 30 days ahead. Wheee is built for planning, so you can lock in tomorrow's commute or a ride three weeks away with the same few taps.

Can I use Wheee on an iPhone?

Yes. Just book on the web at wheee.co.nz — it works on any iPhone, Android phone or laptop, with nothing to install. If you're on Android you can also grab the app on Google Play. (An iPhone app is on the way.)

Can I cancel a ride? Is there a fee?

You can cancel any ride from your bookings. It's completely free to cancel before a driver is on the way to you. Once a driver has been dispatched to your pickup, a $10 cancellation fee applies — that covers the driver already heading your way.

How is my fare worked out — is there surge pricing?

Your fare is worked out upfront from the distance and time of your trip, and you see the amount before you book. There's no surge pricing, ever — rush hour or not. You pay for the ride you actually take: if it runs shorter you pay less, and if it runs long your quote is capped just above the estimate.

How do I pay?

Add a debit or credit card when you book your first ride. You're only charged after your trip is complete, and a receipt is emailed to you automatically. You can save more than one card and pick which to use at booking.

Which areas does Wheee cover?

Wheee serves Wellington and the wider region — the central city, Lower Hutt, Porirua and out toward the Kāpiti Coast. When you enter your pickup and destination, you'll see straight away whether they're inside our service area.

When will I know who my driver is?

Your ride is confirmed the moment you book. Your driver's name and vehicle are shared with you about 45 minutes before pickup, and you get live tracking plus text and email updates as they head your way.

Can I book my whole week at once?

Yes — that's what Wheee is made for. Use Plan your week to set up your regular rides across several days in one go. Book once, ride all week, and see every fare upfront before you commit.
